Invercargill Information:

Travel Times and Distances from and to Invercargill

New Zealand's southernmost city is inviting to all with a fantastic mayor Tim Shadbolt. Good place for you to stock up for the next long leg of the trip toward the west. Any repairs to be done here. Nice easy city to get around. Be sure to visit the Souhland Museum and Art Gallery and a drive to Oreti Beach a good spot to have a rest or a lunch. A major film was made of this area about Bert Munro the part played by Anthony Hopkins. Bert Munro was born in 1899 in Invercargill. He made a one-way run of 190.07 mph, the fastest ever officially recorded.

Interesting community and one that deserves a better handshake from passing tourists. The weather has always played a big part in causing the place to be down graded. I think it is a great place to visit.

From here you go off to Bluff and possibly, time permitting, Stewart Island.

Recommended camp ground is the Lorneville Holiday Park 5 minutes from the City centre, on the Catlins Southern Scenic Route. Their location makes them the perfect place to base yourself in the area and close to Bluff and the Stewart Island Ferry Terminal. They have excellent facilities and fantastic hosts.  Check out the web page: Lorneville Holiday Park.
